Ecosystems are communities of organisms that interact with their environment. Biodiversity is important in a healthy ecosystem. Food chains and food webs are models that demonstrate how organisms in an ecosystem rely on each other for food. Within an ecosystem, there are producers, consumers, and decomposers who all contribute to a healthy ecosystem. Some organisms will be herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores.
